USM – London Design Festival

London UK

USM is delighted to be participating in London Design Festival with a series of collaborative events and installations that will showcase the creative capabilities of USM this September.

The Publishing House
Old Truman Brewery, London, E1
Hall T1 Stand No. PS1
22-25 September 2016

USM has teamed up with FleaFollyArchitects and Blueprint magazine to create The Publishing House at the London Design Fair.

The Publishing House is a pavilion made out of more than 2,000 modular pieces from USM modular furniture and completely clad on the exterior surface with Blueprint magazines. This will create a small room on the inside, which will be a haven from the hustle and bustle of the show and USM invites you to come in and sit a while and Make It Yours!

For this pavilion, USM modular furniture has pushed the parameters of what its furniture system is capable of. However, it is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of design, having been responsible for the Rethinking The Modular, design residency and subsequent exhibition during Milan Design Week in 2015.

USM are delighted to be a sponsor of Design Prize Switzerland who will showcase the best of design from Switzerland for the very first time in London as part of ‘CH+UK – Swiss Culture in the UK’. CH+UK is an ongoing initiative by the Embassy of Switzerland promoting Swiss artists and culture across all creative fields in all areas of the UK.

From the very start, Design Prize Switzerland (DPS) has campaigned internationally to showcase the design talent of Switzerland with both sponsorship and long-term investment. For the first time held in London, this year’s 22 showcased projects were all fueled by a desire to provide innovative design lead solutions to respond the questions of sustainability and environmental responsibility we face today. To accompany this, a series of talks and conferences have been scheduled to challenge and enlighten on the notion of Swiss design - solidifying Switzerland’s creative contributions both in London and internationally.

USM privacy panels were awarded the furniture prize, produced in collaboration with
atelier oï, USM created a modular system of office partitioning which offers visual and acoustic privacy. The individual panels consist of highly compressed polyester fleece which is attached to a framework of steel tubes, providing freestanding space dividers for use in open-plan work places.
