Sophisticated Modern

Lenzburg (Switzerland)

Long before she started furnishing her own home, Sandra Von Christen Geiger found herself surrounded by USM pieces. Many of her previous workplaces were furnished with it and yet she never grew tired of the simple yet sophisticated, modern design. So when she found herself looking for a classic white living room credenza, USM was an easy choice. "Besides the purist design that exemplifies my interior decorating style perfectly, my favorite thing about the furniture is the modularity principle. If the sideboards no longer work in the space, they can easily be reconfigured and used for other purposes. So they're a good investment," says the Lenzburg resident. And the adjoining dining room illustrates what such a reconfiguration would look like. Here, a USM Haller table in black oak, originally designed for the office, serves as a dining table and proves to be a perfect match for the six Arne Jacobsen chairs, both in terms of color and formality. "Before this purchase I went on countless online searches, and I approached them all with a certain image in mind. In the end, it was a USM product image that tipped the scales." The central USM theme begins in the entryway.  Under the Adnet mirror by Gubi, a graphite black sideboard welcomes guests of the family of four, leading them directly into the carefully and calmly staged heart of the detached 1910 single-family home. Truly a perfectly designed welcome.
